The Truth About Barefoot Training
Do you ever come home from work after a long day and can’t wait to take off your shoes? I can bet most of us know the feeling.
That is because your shoes are literally enveloping your feet, rendering them incapable of performing their responsibilities! Shoes hamper our ability to move well; they can weaken your arches and may lessen the neurological connection from our brain to our feet.
You can even think of your shoes as a coffin for your feet. Shoes constrict your foot inside the “coffin”, hindering the 26 bones, 30 joints, and more than 100 muscles, tendons, and ligaments, from functioning properly. Instead of your feet working together to provide support, balance and mobility, they can become stiff, weak, and sometimes painful.
One way to literally activate your feet is to exercise while barefoot. And what better way to exercise barefoot than with yoga.

While the benefits of yoga extend beyond intrinsic foot strength, your foot’s ability to “feel” the ground and wake up those dormant muscles will improve their function, ultimately helping you feel stronger, more stable, and more grounded.
Your feet are the foundation for almost every movement we make. You will be surprised about the capabilities a strong foot can have on the rest of your body.
